STV Celebrates Completion of Delta Sky Way at LAX

LOS ANGELES, CA — STV, a professional services firm that plans, designs, and manages infrastructure projects across North America, joined Delta Air Lines in celebrating the final major phase of the Delta Sky Way Program at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). STV, in a joint venture, provided program and project management services, including baggage handling system management, scheduling, financial controls, change and contracts management, as well as tenant move management services.

As part of a larger initiative to modernize and connect LAX terminals ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Delta moved its operational hub from Terminals 5 and 6 to Terminals 2 and 3. The reconstruction and renovation included the central headhouse, a consolidated check-in lobby, security checkpoint, and baggage claim facility — while connecting the terminals directly to the Tom Bradley International Terminal, eliminating the need for shuttle buses.

“The results of STV’s collaboration with Delta Air Lines is a testament to seamless project coordination,” said Joe Thompson, Senior Vice President and National Aviation Practice Lead at STV. “Terminals 2 and 3 elevate the passenger experience and demonstrate the value of strategic planning for world-class infrastructure.”

The 27-gate terminal also provides new and renovated passenger hold rooms, new and renovated facilities for airline operations, operational support spaces for Los Angeles World Airports, and a Delta Sky Club — the largest lounge offered by Delta. LAX is one of Delta’s most important coastal hubs, operating more than 155 peak-day flights to more than 55 locations worldwide.

The Delta Sky Way Program has been recognized throughout the industry, landing the 2024 Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of California.

STV also led the development and evaluation of alternatives for the LAX Landside Access Modernization Program; while Delta selected STV for the Redevelopment Program at John F.
