Barton Malow and Gray Celebrate 9 Million Work Hours at the BlueOval SK Battery Park Project

GLENDALE, KY — Barton Malow and local construction partner, Gray, announce that the BlueOval SK Battery Park project has officially eclipsed 9 million work hours in Glendale, Kentucky. As a result of the dedication of over 3,800 team members, construction on the $5.8 billion project is on schedule to begin production in 2025.

Since Barton Malow and Gray broke ground in 2022, more than 8,750,000 cubic yards of earth have been moved, over 373,000 cubic yards of concrete have been poured, and nearly 77,000 tons of steel have been placed around the 1,500-acre site.

“It has been an honor to work alongside all of our partners in state government, local government, and the business community to help deliver an economic development project of this magnitude on time and on target,” said Steve Freed, Senior Vice President at Barton Malow Company. “Thanks to the countless team members for their support in building the ‘advanced electric battery capital of the world’ right here in the beautiful Bluegrass State.”

“This is such a meaningful accomplishment that would not be possible without a cohesive team driven by commitment, passion, and hard work,” said Brian Jones, President and CEO of Gray Construction. “I’m proud of the teams and work being done and look forward to accomplishing more incredible milestones.”

“Barton Malow, Gray, Ford Land, as well as the many subcontractors have been outstanding partners in helping bring this joint venture to life,” said Micheal Adams, CEO of BlueOval SK. “We’re immensely grateful to every single person, from Kentucky and across the nation, who have contributed their time and talent. Together, we are electrifying the future of the Commonwealth.”
