CHICAGO, IL — SmithGroup announces that Nate Koschmann has joined the company as the new Higher Education Studio Leader at the Chicago office. Possessing nearly 20 years of experience, he will work with experts from across SmithGroup's Higher Education, Campus Planning and Campus Strategy, and Analytics groups to create design-based solutions that enhance learning, promote inclusivity, and enrich the student experience.

SmithGroup’s Higher Education Practice transforms campuses across all scales, encompassing a range of expertise from campus master plans and placemaking to specialized facilities for health sciences, professional education, STEM, and more. College and university clients in the region include the College of DuPage, University of Chicago, Loyola University-Chicago, Northwestern University, and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, among others.

Koschmann attended University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he earned a Master of Architecture, a Master of Science in civil engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in architectural studies. A licensed architect in Illinois, Michigan, and Texas, he is also a member of the American Institute of Architects and obtained LEED AP BD+C accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council.
