The $4.4-million prefabricated truss bridge, which spans Touhy Avenue, is located on the Valley Line Trail on the west side of Lincolnwood. Before the bridge was constructed, trail users had to make a detour to safely cross Touhy Avenue. Many chose to turn around rather than cross the busy roadway. The new bridge eliminates the detour and allows for safe and easy crossing of Touhy Avenue.
The bridge also doubles as a signature gateway, welcoming 40,000 drivers into Lincolnwood every day. The rustic prairie style design matches local architecture and has several significant architectural elements, like the iconic tree logo and “Village of Lincolnwood” cast in the piers.
