MIDDLETOWN, OH — Skanska, a global construction and development firm, announces the groundbreaking of the Butler Tech Aviation Education Hangar at the Middletown Airport. The ceremony marked the official start of construction on a facility that will provide students with hands-on career technical education in aviation and related fields.
The groundbreaking event saw a turnout of about 200 attendees, including state and local political figures, Butler Tech students, aviation-related businesses, and members of the media. The ceremony highlights the importance of this new facility in shaping the future workforce in the aviation industry.
Skanska is serving as the construction manager and emersion DESIGN is the architect for the 28,000-square-foot hangar, which will include 8,500 square feet of hangar space and additional space dedicated to offices, classrooms, and labs. The facility is designed to support Butler Tech’s aviation career pathways, providing students with hands-on learning experiences in aviation maintenance, engineering, private piloting, and unmanned aircraft systems.

The project has support from Butler County Commissioners, the City of Middletown, JobsOhio, and REDI Cincinnati.
