“This is an exciting opportunity for our Charlotte team,” Vice President and Regional Manager Pat Bulman said. “These facilities help stimulate the local economy and provide more jobs here in the Southeast.”
Sundt will self-perform the mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation for the project, employing nearly 200 trade professionals for the work. Once complete, the facility is projected to produce 36,000 tons of cathode foil, a type of ultra-thin aluminum foil used in electric vehicles. Cathode foil is one of the four major components of lithium-ion batteries.
Sundt’s history in the Southeast dates back more than 50 years. The 134-year-old firm specializes in transportation, industrial, building, concrete, and renewable power work and is owned entirely by its approximately 3,000-plus employees. Sundt has 13 offices throughout California, Arizona, North Carolina, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Florida.
