PARSIPPANY, NJ — Vijay Thaker, PE, joined HNTB Corporation as a Project Manager in the firm’s New Jersey structures practice. Based in HNTB’s Lawrenceville office, he leads design, delivery, technical review and construction support for the firm’s highway and bridge projects with the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).
“Vijay is recognized as an accomplished expert and leader in the design and construction of highways and bridges,” said Gary Hullfish, PE, HNTB’s New Jersey Office Leader and Vice President. “He brings a demonstrated ability to manage the delivery of key transportation projects.”
Thaker has more than 31 years of experience with the NJDOT, including serving as Executive Manager of the bureau of structural and railroad engineering services. In that role, he supervised more than 30 structural and civil engineers responsible for bridge design, construction review, insuring proposed bridge designs complied with industry standards, reviewing new bridge products and technologies and railroad engineering and safety for at-grade railroad crossings.
A Professional Engineer in New Jersey, he is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a master’s degree in structures, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from M.S. University in India. He is a certified Public Manager and a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies.
