Four Lanes of Belmont Ridge Road at the Dulles Greenway Open in Ashburn

ASHBURN, VA — Drivers on Belmont Ridge Road now have four travel lanes at the Dulles Greenway (Route 267), according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Belmont Ridge Road now has two lanes in each direction at the Dulles Greenway interchange, with two-foot shoulders on both sides. On the bridge, the widening was done entirely within the existing deck. The project aims to reduce congestion and improve safety and operations by eliminating the previous bottleneck along a half-mile stretch.

Also, a new traffic signal is now in operation at Belmont Ridge Road and the westbound Dulles Greenway on- and off-ramps. The signal includes a flashing yellow arrow for left turns from northbound Belmont Ridge Road to the westbound Dulles Greenway.

Other improvements recently completed as part of this project include:

  • Partially reconstructing the ramp from southbound Belmont Ridge Road to the eastbound Dulles Greenway and moving the ramp entrance slightly south of its previous location
  • Repaving and restriping Belmont Ridge Road just north and just south of the bridge

The improvements were all completed about two months ahead of schedule. Final detail work will occur into the fall with minimal impacts to traffic. The $7.5-million project is financed with federal and state funding.
