One of his most challenging projects was Groton Middle School. This 180,000-square-foot school and adjacent athletic fields were built on a wooded lot that needed full site development during the pandemic, which presented personnel and supply chain issues. Additionally, those grounds — considered a Native American encampment — required coordination with an archaeologist to protect any artifacts. Despite these challenges, Rizy and his team successfully completed the school within 17 months.
"I am very honored to earn this distinction," Rizy said. "I take great pride in my job and credit my success to the unwavering support I receive from my team and O&G's leadership."
“Chris has many attributes and a depth of experience that make him a true asset to O&G,” said Jason Travelstead, Vice President of O&G’s building group. “This is a well-deserved recognition, and it is my pleasure to congratulate him on receiving this award.”
Rizy has worked for O&G for 23 years. He joined the company as a Project Engineer after earning a civil and environmental engineering degree with a minor in mathematics from UMass Dartmouth. He quickly advanced to Project Manager and then became a Superintendent, the position he has held for the last 15 years.
