MONTPELIER, ID — Sundt begins construction on the Idaho Transportation Department’s (ITD) US-30 Rocky Point Wildlife Crossing project in Bear Lake County.
Located on US-30 northeast of Bear Lake, the $11.9 million project will deliver three wildlife underpasses aimed at reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions and improving safety for motorists traveling in this corridor.
“This project represents meaningful progress for both safety and conservation in the region,” said Thiago Bezerra, Sundt Project Director. “In partnership with ITD, we’re delivering infrastructure that protects the traveling public while preserving critical wildlife movement patterns for the long term.”
The project includes construction of three distinct structures: one bridge with precast concrete girders, one bridge utilizing precast pre-stressed voided slab girders, and one precast box culvert. Crews will also install 5 miles of 8-foot-tall wildlife fencing to help guide animals safely toward the crossings, along with associated roadway improvements.
The project is anticipated to finish in winter 2026.
