ROSEBURG, OR — Romtec Utilities highlights its involvement in two projects named as recipients for the 2026 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Honor Award by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
The projects are the Hyperion Advanced Water Purification Facility in Playa del Rey, California, and Portland International Airport Terminal Core Redevelopment Phase One in Portland, Oregon.
“It is an honor to see two projects we were a part of recognized among the world’s leading civil engineering achievements,” said Ben Cooper, President of Romtec Utilities. “These projects show how reliable water and wastewater infrastructure support public health, sustainability, and long-term community growth.”
ASCE selected 12 projects for the 2026 OCEA Honor Awards. The award recognizes civil engineering projects that improve communities, support public health and safety, and advance the profession. The top three projects will be announced October 15 at the ASCE OPAL Gala in Reston, Virginia.
The Hyperion Advanced Water Purification Facility produces up to 1.5 million gallons of purified recycled water per day. The facility helps Los Angeles reuse water and reduce demand on potable water supplies. Romtec Utilities supplied a water treatment pump station package that included a wastewater lift station and two self-priming pump skids.

Romtec Utilities also supported Portland International Airport Terminal Core Redevelopment Phase One. The $2 billion modernization project includes a mass timber roof, seismic upgrades, expanded passenger areas, and sustainability-focused improvements at PDX.
Romtec Utilities designed, manufactured, and supplied the main wastewater pump station for the airport. Over the years, Romtec Utilities has completed several pump station projects at the Port of Portland.
