CARPINTERIA, CA — Walsh Construction joined The Carpinteria Valley Water District (CVWD) and Carpinteria Sanitary District to break ground on the Carpinteria Advanced Purification Project (CAPP), an initiative designed to provide a drought-proof, locally controlled water supply for the community. The project includes an advanced water purification facility that will convert over 1 million gallons of recycled wastewater per day into a safe drinking water supply utilizing membrane filtration, reverse osmosis, and UV/advanced oxidation. The project will deliver a reliable, year-round source that is resilient to drought conditions and climate change. The project also includes 1 mile of purified water conveyance pipelines that will transport the treated water from the facility to the Carpinteria Groundwater Basin.
CAPP represents a 50-year investment in the City of Carpinteria’s local water supply, meeting up to approximately 25 percent of the region’s annual water needs and strengthening the future for improved water management and innovation.
