SAN DIEGO, CA — Helix Electric, an electrical contracting company, kicks off “40 Years with 40 Philanthropy Events” with the donation of a Ford F150 XL truck to a San Diego, California, nonprofit. The surprise donation to Third Avenue Charitable Organization (TACO) took place during Helix Electric’s 40th anniversary celebration at the company’s headquarters in San Diego, California.
The event brought together company employees, partners, and community leaders, including San Diego Councilmember Vivian Moreno and California State Assembly member David Alvarez, recognizing the company’s 40-year legacy and commitment to giving back to its community.
"This donation demonstrates how businesses can tackle real community challenges head-on through thoughtful, impactful giving," said Boris Shekhter, CEO, Helix Electric Inc. "When companies invest in local nonprofits, they create a ripple effect that strengthens our entire support network for vulnerable residents and builds lasting solutions."
The vehicle features a tow package that will help the nonprofit transport its custom portable shower trailer and expand hygiene access for San Diego residents experiencing homelessness and poverty. The donated truck includes TACO's logo wrapped around it, raising awareness of the organization when in use.
"This truck will further our impact across San Diego County, allowing us to bring essential hygiene services directly to those who need them most. Mobile showers change lives by restoring dignity and health," said Lorena Galligan, Director, Third Avenue Charitable Organization. “The ongoing volunteer support from Helix employees has strengthened our programs and shows their genuine commitment to serving our community's most vulnerable residents."

The gift comes alongside dozens of boxes of employee-led donations. These charity contributions were part of Helix’s “Comfort and Care” Drive, where employees provided essential items for the cold months, including blankets, beanies, gloves, personal wear, nail clippers, and backpacks. These donations will support TACO’s overall program, which provides food, water, showers, clothing, and medical, dental, and legal clinics to those in need. Helix’s Helping Hands, the company’s employee-driven giving group, volunteers year-round at the nonprofit to serve meals, sort clothing, and file mail.
"One of our core values is 'We Treat People Right' and that extends far beyond our employees to the communities where we live and work," Shekhter said. "Forty years in business gives us both the responsibility and privilege to power real solutions for people who need them most, and that's exactly the kind of community impact we want our anniversary to represent."
The donation supports Helix Electric’s nationwide 40th anniversary philanthropy initiative, launched in October 2025. To honor this milestone, Helix Electric employees will participate in 40 philanthropy activities in cities where the company operates.
