SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Skanska has made two key additions to its California leadership team. M. Gregory Mantz joins Skanska USA Building Inc.’s San Francisco office as Project Executive, Aviation Lead. Michael Strong has been named Vice President, Project Executive.

Mantz will utilize his decades of design and construction experience to support the strategy and execution of critical aviation projects in California, including a current air cargo project for San Francisco International Airport.

In his new role, Strong will oversee strategic client relationships, ensure project delivery aligns with client objectives, and support business development efforts in the San Francisco Bay area of California. He will also lead specialized projects focused on the renovation and repositioning of existing buildings.

“Greg and Michael are respected leaders in our industry, and their additions strengthen our ability to deliver the highest quality of projects for our clients,” said Gordon Childress, Executive Vice President and General Manager at Skanska USA Building Inc. in California. “Their established relationships and deep expertise, particularly in aviation and renovation work, will allow us to continue on a trajectory of strategic growth.”

Mantz, with over 40 years of experience in both design and construction, was most recently a Project Executive at DPR Construction. He brings extensive market experience in aviation and health care, specializing in integrated project delivery methods, including progressive design-build. Some of Mantz’s projects include leading the Terminal 2 Expansion at Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport and the recently completed UC Davis Health Ambulatory Surgical Center in Sacramento, California. He is a licensed architect in California, LEED Accredited Professional, and holds the DBIA certification from the Design-Build Institute of America.

“Aviation is deeply rooted in my family history, and I am proud to continue this legacy at Skanska,” said Mantz, whose grandfather, Paul Mantz, was a Hollywood movie stunt pilot during the industry's golden age. “Our team is at the forefront of some of the most important projects shaping the region, and we are well-poised to adapt to the changing needs of the industry and our clients as air travel enters a new era.”

Strong brings three decades of specialized expertise to Skanska, with a background in design-build, seismic retrofits, historic renovations, and adaptive re-use projects. He was most recently a Project Executive at Pankow Builders, where in addition to leading teams across projects, he was also integral to business acquisition strategy and execution. Strong holds the DBIA Associate certification.

“My passion lies in the logistics and phasing of work surrounding occupied buildings, and I am eager to apply this expertise to Skanska projects,” Strong said. “We have a dedicated and talented team here in San Francisco, and I look forward to contributing to the development and success of this market.”
