Willits brings 30 years of experience in highway and local roadway project development and construction and has advanced and delivered numerous projects for state and local agencies. He has led design-build and design-bid-build project teams and has worked with agencies and project stakeholders at all levels to secure approvals.
Prior to joining HNTB, Willits served as the Engineering Manager for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s $6.5B I-710 South Corridor project, developing a truck expressway and corridor alternatives based on stakeholder feedback. He was also the Design Manager and Roadway Engineer-of-Record responsible for the $450-million 12-mile widening and reconstruction of SR-22 in Orange County.
Willits received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in business from University of California, Irvine. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of California.
