Antonelli Joins HNTB as Project Director in the Inland Empire

ONTARIO, CA — Mathew Antonelli, PE, has joined HNTB Corporation as Project Director for the Inland Empire. His duties include management of the firm’s work on the I-10 Express Lanes Project for San Bernardino County Transportation Authority. He is based in HNTB’s Ontario, California, office.

“Mat’s experience with complex project management is invaluable to the current and upcoming projects in the Inland Empire,” said Wayne Feuerborn, HNTB West Division President. “We look forward to his assistance in further developing the construction management practice for HNTB here in Southern California.”

Antonelli has more than 12 years of experience as both an Engineer and Manager in a range of projects in Southern California. As Director of Construction for Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Regional Connector Transit project, he oversaw the construction management support staff that monitors the contractor’s daily operations.

Prior to joining HNTB, Antonelli worked for eight years with L.A. Metro as Deputy Executive Officer on the Regional Connector subway project in downtown Los Angeles, and as Construction Manager for the Metro Express Lanes. Antonelli earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering at California State University Sacramento. He currently is pursuing a Master of Science in project management at the University of Southern California.

HNTB is a infrastructure solutions firm with roots to the West since beginning work on Pasadena’s Arroyo Seco Bridge in 1914, the firm’s first year of operation, and has since been involved in some of the region’s infrastructure programs.

Currently, HNTB is working with the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority on the I-10 Corridor Project Phase 1 that provides approximately 10 miles of express lanes along the I-10 in each direction from the Los Angeles County line to the I-15; the I-405 Improvement Project for the Orange County Transportation Authority that will add the 405 Express Lanes, incorporating the existing carpool lanes and a new lane in each direction between SR-73 and I-605; and the Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project Feasibility Study for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority to build a high-capacity transit line between the San Fernando Valley and the Westside through the Sepulveda Pass.

HNTB’s infrastructure projects in the West Division include: Interstate 405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements project, Seattle’s Sound Transit University Link light-rail and tunnel project, Tom Bradley International Terminal Expansion for Los Angeles World Airports and San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium. Additionally, the firm is providing design and engineering services for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project on behalf of the LA Metro.
