SAN DIEGO, CA — Longfellow Real Estate Partners recently celebrated the groundbreaking of its 323,000-square-foot Bioterra campus. The six-story campus, designed by HOK with McCarthy Builders serving as general contractor, will have a rooftop patio overlooking Sorrento Mesa, with specially curated food and beverage options open to the public.

“As the first ground-up project in our San Diego portfolio, Bioterra is an exciting step forward in Longfellow’s commitment to support the rapidly growing San Diego life sciences market,” said Nick Frasco, Longfellow Real Estate Partners Chief Investment Officer West and Managing Director. “The campus will be a major addition to San Diego’s core life sciences cluster and will offer top biotech users a unique value proposition based on state-of-the-art space, unparalleled amenities, and proximity to world-class industry partners.”

Bioterra will be designed to LEED Gold and Fitwel standards. Large floor plates allow for natural light on all floors, and research space extends to outdoor terraces. It will be San Diego’s first all-electric HVAC life sciences building.

Bioterra is located in Sorrento Mesa, offering biotech tenants access to Interstate 5 and San Diego’s universities and research institutes, including UC San Diego, the Salk Institute, and the Scripps Research Institute, as well as numerous medical centers. The campus also is near Longfellow’s other life sciences properties in the region.

HOK is providing planning; architecture; laboratory programming, planning, and design; interior design; landscape architecture; and sustainable design services for Bioterra.
