Known for both his professional and philanthropic efforts, Favre was recognized for the impact that his humanitarian efforts have had on health care, medical research, and education for the citizens of Louisiana. A transplant from Mississippi, Favre first fell in love with construction as a child, learning the tricks of the trade from his father and friends from their neighborhood in Gulfport.
After applying, getting accepted, and graduating with honors from LSU, Favre began his professional career as an Estimator for a company who built refineries and chemical plants. After getting some experience under his belt, Favre started Performance Contractors in 1979 — which has grown to employ thousands across the country. Favre credits his successes to the people of Louisiana who have been at the center of his business.
"There are a lot of things to keep in mind when living in Louisiana. In my mind, at the top of the list are the people," Favre said.
