Louisiana DOTD's Pecue Lane/I-10 Interchange Project Enters Final Phase

BATON ROUGE, LA — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces the latest progress and updates on the Pecue Lane/I-10 interchange project. As part of the East Baton Rouge city-parish government’s Green Light Plan, this multi-phased project aims to enhance transportation infrastructure and improve road connectivity throughout the parish.

Currently in its third and final phase, the Pecue Lane/I-10 interchange project is making significant progress toward its estimated completion of mid-2026.

The current work includes:

  • Paving the new southbound Pecue Lane roadway
  • Constructing the southbound Pecue Lane bridge over Ward’s Creek
  • Grading the new on- and off-ramps for I-10
  • Installing drainage structures along Pecue Lane

The project is on track for its first traffic shift to the newly paved Pecue Lane in fall of 2024.

The Pecue Lane/I-10 interchange project has been a multi-phased endeavor that commenced in 2017. The initial phases involved the clearing and grubbing of land, followed by the construction of mechanically stabilized earth walls on both sides of I-10 and the establishment of two multi-lane overpass bridges.

In this third and final phase, the project is set to widen Pecue Lane from two to four travel lanes between Perkins Road and Airline Highway. Additionally, the KCS railroad crossing will undergo reconstruction to provide a smoother crossing over the railroad track. Pedestrian sidewalks will be constructed on the west side of Pecue Lane, and the Ward Creek Bridge will be replaced. Rieger Road will be extended to intersect with Pecue Lane, and the on- and off-ramps to I-10 will be constructed. The project’s final work will be the opening of the diverging diamond interchange to traffic, making it the second of its kind in the state.
