Howington is the chapter’s Communications Chair, and in this role she has spread the word about WTS Mississippi events, news, updates, STEM activities, and more across social media channels. In doing so she has effectively promoted the WTS mission to advance women in the Transportation industry and spotlighted the Mississippi chapter’s work. She has also kept members connected and informed with timely email updates.
In addition to this work, the WTS member who nominated Howington noted her strong work ethic, commitment to the goals and growth of WTS, her “cheerful and humble” personality, and her leadership on the WTS board.
“I’m honored to receive this recognition because in a short time I’ve learned just how impactful WTS Mississippi is to our industry and state,” Howington said. “By devoting such resources to women’s professional development, we’re committed to creating an environment in which all employees can grow and thrive.”
This is not the first time that Garver or Garver employees have been honored by WTS. In 2021, the WTS Heart of Texas chapter named Garver Employer of the Year. Last year, Garver was given the same honor by WTS chapters in Mississippi and Oklahoma. And this year, Garver was again named Employer of the Year by WTS Arkansas.
