Cantabery, Martin, and Bennett Inducted into Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineering

LITTLE ROCK, AR — The University of Arkansas Department of Civil Engineering announces the induction of Garver’s South Central Region Transportation Director John Cantabery, PE, Construction Services Team Leader Blake Martin, PE, SI, MBA, and Geotechnical and Pavement Specialist Kyle Bennett, PE, into the 2024 class of the Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineering (AACE).

A hands-on supporter of civil engineering students at the university, the AACE helps members take on the role of mentors to current students by hosting events that provide first-hand information on the industry and provide networking opportunities.

Cantabery, a 2003 graduate of the University of Arkansas, has spent two decades at Garver working with local, state, and federal agencies on some of the most integral transportation projects across the state, including 30 Crossing, Springdale Northern Bypass, Highway 286, and the I-40 at I-430 Interchange.

“I’m honored to be included in this esteemed group and look forward to supporting the next generation of engineers,” Cantabery said. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without the Department of Civil Engineering.”

Martin, a 2003 graduate of the University of Arkansas, has over 20 years of experience providing construction management and engineering services on a wide variety of projects. Over the last 10 years, he has served as an extension of the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) for the Connecting Arkansas Program, managing several construction projects, including 30 Crossing.

“I credit my education at the University of Arkansas with much of my success, and I admire those who are already a part of the academy,” Martin said. “To be included in this group is an honor, and I look forward to helping inspire future generations of engineers.”

Bennett, a 2001 graduate of the University of Arkansas, has 20 years of combined experience providing aviation and geotechnical engineering, pavement design, construction materials testing, and project inspection services. This includes projects at Denver International Airport, Dallas Love Field, George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Kansas City International Airport, and more.

“It’s a privilege to be among such a talented and dedicated group of alumni,” Bennett said. “I can’t wait to help pave the way for success for future engineers and help them reach their full potential.”
