Oklahoma DOT Announces New Leaders for Two Field Districts and GIS Division

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) announces new leaders for its Northwest and Northeast Oklahoma field districts and its Geospatial Data Management Division.
Northwest Oklahoma Field District
Jon Logan has been selected as District Engineer for ODOT’s District 6. Logan will oversee the highway maintenance and construction activities for Alfalfa, Beaver, Cimarron, Ellis, Harper, Major, Texas, Woods, and Woodward Counties in northwest Oklahoma and the Panhandle.

First joining ODOT in 1998, Logan most recently served ODOT as the Construction Engineer for District 6. Previous roles include District 6 Maintenance Engineer, District 6 Area Maintenance Engineer, and Guymon Assistant Resident Engineer.

A native of Guymon, Logan holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Oklahoma State University.

Northeast Oklahoma Field District
Trapper Parks has been selected as District Engineer for ODOT’s District 8. As District Engineer, Parks will manage transportation planning and operations in Craig, Creek, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Rogers, Tulsa, and Washington Counties in northeastern Oklahoma, including the Tulsa metro area.

First joining ODOT in 2004 as a member of the OSU Design Squad, Parks has spent much of his career in District 8, including serving as District Maintenance Engineer since 2016. Other previous positions include District 8 Area Maintenance Engineer and Roadway Design Project Engineer. Parks holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Oklahoma State University.

Geospatial Data Management Division
Sam Coldiron was recently announced as the Geospatial Data Management Division Manager for the Oklahoma Transportation Cabinet. In this role, he will oversee the cartography, Geoanalytics, LRS Management, GIS Data QA/QC, and GIS Federal Reporting teams for the cabinet.

Coldiron has been a member of the Department of Transportation’s Geospatial Data Management group since November 2015 serving in various roles, most recently as GIS Manager II over the GIS QA/QC, Federal Reporting, and Special Projects Teams. In that time, he led the conversion of ODOT’s maps to its current mapping system and co-led the initiative to update the department’s Linear Referencing System. Coldiron is a member of the GIS Data Sharing Subcommittee on the Oklahoma GIS Council and an active member of the Oklahoma Chapter of the South Central ArcGIS Users Group.
