The contractor has completed pouring the concrete approach slabs — which require a minimum 14-day curing time — for the new roadway that connects to the newly constructed bridge. Additionally, asphalt work on the roadway itself will soon begin.
Other remaining work includes roadway striping, permanent signage, and barrier rail installation. The roadway striping is done using a material called thermoplastic and is weather dependent and cannot be installed in temperatures below 50 degrees.
Both the concrete barrier rail and asphalt operations are also strictly limited by weather. The contractor is working continuously in order to prepare to perform these operations as soon as all conditions are appropriate.
DOTD anticipates being able to open the bridge on LA 3033 in late March 2024, with progress dependent on weather conditions.
