Additionally, Shawmut Chief People Officer, Marianne Monte, moderated the AGC BWiC Inspire Awards. The industry luncheon celebrated women in construction who have demonstrated leadership, generosity, innovation, and commitment to their career, colleagues, and industry. Five Shawmut women, who are helping to lead The Langham Boston project, gave a tour to fellow employees, sharing progress on the 120,000-square-foot renovation that will reflect the history and highlight the building’s architectural elements.
These were just a few of the many events that Shawmut hosted last week for the annual celebration. Outside of these events, Shawmut aims to be a leader in diversity, equity, and inclusion for women and minorities in the industry through various companywide initiatives spearheaded by CEO, Les Hiscoe. Shawmut achieved 100 percent pay equity through a company-wide audit in 2019 and has sponsorship and mentor programs that ensure employees are receiving support and equal opportunity for promotions. The firm is also a founding member of Diversity and Inclusion in Construction and Engineering and has created a Diversity Leadership Council to drive Shawmut’s DEI strategy and efforts.
