WATERTOWN, MA — VHB welcomes Phil Goff, Senior Active Transportation Planner, to its Massachusetts Transportation practice and the New England markets.

Goff has more than 20 years of experience in transportation planning, and a passion for making communities more sustainable, accessible, and lively — using his design, planning, and bicycle advocacy background as a tool to manage numerous pedestrian and bicycle, multimodal, and urban design projects throughout the Northeast.

Most recently, Goff's work has included the feasibility of trail-connectivity enhancements in Somerville and Cambridge; the completion of the Upper Charles Trail in Ashland, Massachusetts; and development of the Walk/Bike Northampton Plan. Additionally, Goff worked with both the Buffalo-Niagara MPO and the City of Buffalo to develop the region’s first bicycle transportation plan and, four years earlier, to update the city’s Bicycle Master Plan. Goff oversaw the GIS-based equity mapping analysis, reviewed the planned and existing bikeways, and developed a revision of the regional and citywide bike network.

“With wide-ranging experience in transportation planning and the management of diverse multimodal projects, Phil adds a tremendous value to VHB’s transportation practice and our clients,” said Mike Regan, PE, PTOE, Managing Director of Traffic Operations at VHB.

Prior to joining VHB, Goff was a Board Member of the Bike-Walk Alliance of NH, and Cambridge-based LivableStreets Alliance. He founded and is currently Chair of the East Arlington Livable Streets Coalition. In 2000, he was awarded the Alice Toeclips Bicycle Transportation Alliance Award for his advocacy “for making bikes an integral part of everyday life” in Portland, Oregon.
