PHOENIX, AZ — The I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project has won a 2026 Associated General Contractors Arizona (AGC Arizona) Build Arizona Award. The award honors the project team’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence on one of the region’s most complex infrastructure undertakings.
Delivered by the joint venture of Pulice, FNF, and FlatironDragados for the Arizona Department of Transportation, Broadway Curve remains the largest urban freeway reconstruction in ADOT history. The improvements span 11 miles through Phoenix, Tempe, and Chandler and today serve more than 300,000 commuters each day with added lanes, reconstructed interchanges, and smoother traffic flow.
The work required advanced traffic management, design flexing, and phased sequencing to keep capacity open in a dense urban environment. The team used real-time Iteris and ClearGuide traffic data to extend closure windows safely, and a coordinated weekend closure removed three bridges in about 48 hours with zero safety incidents. A dedicated redline process helped crews document and adjust minor design changes quickly, while partnering surveys guided meeting structure and decision-making improvements.
Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego described the project as a “backbone” for future growth, noting the long-term benefits for regional travel, economic development, and multimodal access. The Broadway Curve improvements also included enhancements for pedestrians and cyclists and major bridge work that supports future population growth.
