THORNTON, CO — Industrial Constructors/Managers Inc. (ICM) has been awarded a Construction Safety Excellence Award (CSEA) from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), earning second place in the Specialty Division for companies with 450,000 to 1 million work hours. The AGC CSEA awards are one of the construction industry’s most significant safety honors, recognizing companies that go beyond compliance to implement innovative, continuously improving safety and risk management systems. ICM was honored for its leadership-driven safety culture and ability to safely execute complex industrial projects.
At ICM, safety is a fully integrated operational value — driven from the executive level to the field. Under the leadership of President Ed Myers, the company has embedded safety into every aspect of the business, from hiring and onboarding to project execution and performance evaluation. That commitment extends to the field, where employee engagement plays a central role in ICM’s safety success. Through its Safety Involvement Program, employees actively identify hazards, conduct peer observations, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts, with participation reinforced through recognition and incentives.

ICM’s work often takes place in active facilities such as power plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing sites, and airports — environments where construction must be performed alongside ongoing operations. On a recent project at Golden Aluminum, ICM replaced a 40-year-old block casting system during a compressed outage, installing 100,000-pound equipment with tolerances as tight as 1 to 2 millimeters. The project required around-the-clock work, complex crane coordination, and strict safety controls — and was completed with zero incidents.
“It’s easy to become complacent when things are going well, but that’s when risk is actually the highest,” said Dave Montoya, Safety Director for ICM. “We focus on staying proactive at all times — using data, field feedback, and daily engagement to keep safety front and center on every job site.”

Winners were selected by a panel of independent safety professionals based on program innovation, management involvement, employee participation, and overall safety performance. Final judging took place during AGC’s annual convention. ICM is one of four Colorado-based winners.
