SCOTTSDALE, AZ — The Arizona Builders Alliance (ABA), a trade association for contractors in Arizona, names Derek Wright, President and CEO of Suntec Concrete, recipient of its Life Director Member of the Board recognition, celebrating his commitment to both the ABA and Arizona's commercial construction community.

The Life Director Member of the Board recognition is the ABA's highest honor. Recipients are recognized not only for their professional accomplishments but for the lasting impact they have made on the people and companies that define the state's construction community. Wright's 12-year tenure on the ABA Board of Directors and dedication to the construction community reflect a career built on service, integrity, and a commitment to advancing the industry for future generations.

"Twelve years on the ABA Board is a true level of commitment, and Derek showed up every step of the way with intention, integrity, and a genuine focus on people," said Kim Davids, President and CEO of the Arizona Builders Alliance. "He cares deeply about this industry and while he served as our Chairman, he drove real impact for the association and the people it serves. Derek leads by example, follows through on his word, and is someone I respect not only as a leader in our industry, but also as a trusted friend."

Wright joined Suntec in 1990 as a carpenter and built his career from the ground up, becoming a partner in 1996 and becoming Vice President in 1997. He was named President in 2014 and later assumed the role of President and CEO, growing the company from 700 employees and one office to nearly 2,500 employees. Under his leadership, Suntec expanded its project footprint across Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and New Mexico, and has grown its revenue to nearly $1 billion annually.

"The Arizona Builders Alliance has been central to how I think about leadership and our responsibility to this industry," Wright said. "I started pouring concrete and learned early on that the real foundation of this business is the people beside you, and the relationships you build, and the ABA has always understood that better than anyone."
