“We are looking forward to kicking off this project as a part of UDOT’s Top 10 projects,” said Sundt Project Manager Thiago Bezerra. “We take pride in improving the roads within our communities and making travel safer for everyone in them.”
The enhancements will improve traffic flow by adding a new exit-only lane on westbound Interstate 80 and an auxiliary lane from the off-ramp of State Road 201 to the on-ramp of State Road 36. The $6-million project includes extending the existing roadway and shoulder to accommodate the additional auxiliary lane, as well as associated striping and roadway signage.
Tooele County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the state. Sundt’s new project will relieve strain on the current two-lane highway and support growth throughout the region.
For more than two decades, Sundt has expanded and improved infrastructure in the Beehive State. Last fall, the company completed the Redwood Road and I-215 Interchange project. In December of 2019, Sundt broke ground on the new Water Reclamation Facility for Salt Lake City’s Department of Public Utilities located in northern Salt Lake City. The $528-million facility will serve more than 200,000 customers over a 110-square-mile service area.
