WHEAT RIDGE, CO — The Barton Malow-Haselden joint venture team was awarded the 2025 Baldwin Group Build America Merit Award by Associated General Contractors (AGC) for its work on the Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital. The hospital in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, was recognized in the Construction Management New or Renovation ($100 million or more) category.
AGC President Tom Brown and Baldwin Group representatives presented the award to Barton Malow Project Executive Adrienne Sraver, who attended on behalf of the project team during AGC’s Annual Convention in Columbus, Ohio.
Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital was a collaboration between Barton Malow and Haselden Construction and was designed to enhance emergency and critical care access in Jefferson County. Each design element was meticulously planned with patients, staff, and health care professionals in mind.
The facility, constructed from June 2021 to May 2024, incorporates 176 universal beds, including 16 observation-specific beds, 19 postpartum/antepartum beds, 12 NICU beds, 10 operating rooms, and two C-Section operating rooms. Patient rooms feature floor-to-ceiling glass, natural sunlight, a full-service cafeteria, and a centrally located courtyard, prioritizing comfort for patients and their families.
The Barton Malow-Haselden team used the Integrated Project Delivery-light approach, embracing collaboration and innovation to deliver health care to the community. The facility is one of the first hospitals of its kind to be designed and constructed as a pandemic-resilient facility, showcasing Intermountain Health’s commitment to safety and care in the face of unprecedented challenges.
