LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), Hunt-PENTA Joint Venture, Klai-Juba-Wald Architects, and Miller & Ham Project Development marked a major milestone in the $600 million renovation of the Las Vegas Convention Center’s (LVCC) legacy campus. With the placement of the structure’s final beam, the event commemorated the work of hundreds of trades workers.
LVCVA, which owns and operates the LVCC, launched a $600 million renovation of the facility’s legacy campus in 2023 to extend the contemporary design, architecture, and customer experience of the $1 billion West Hall expansion. Construction work on the South Hall was completed in January and will continue in the Central and North Halls through 2025. Once completed, the center will feature an expansive Grand Lobby, new spaces, digital signage, improved technology features, and an overall enhanced guest experience.
Conventions are a major source of economic growth for Las Vegas. In 2023, the sector contributed more than $15 billion to the local economy and directly supported more than 67,000 jobs totaling $3.7 billion in wages.
“Across the country, convention centers are becoming pivotal players in driving economic growth and vitality, and the Las Vegas Convention Center is at the forefront of this dynamic," said Corissa Smith, AECOM Hunt Executive Vice President and Convention Center Market Lead. “Long held as one of the nation’s leading convention centers, this project will set Las Vegas apart even further, with state-of-the-art innovations and guest experience enhancements. Our joint venture has been working incredibly hard to make this a reality, and on behalf of Hunt-PENTA, we thank LVCVA, Miller & Ham Project Development, our trade partners, and the skilled trades people who are working with us to make this project a reality.”
“Today is really significant for Las Vegas and for our customers,” Steve Hill, President and CEO of LVCVA said during the event. “It is a testament to the importance of the meeting and convention industry to Las Vegas, the diligence of the board, and this community over the years to make it happen. We’re excited. It’s a milestone for our city.”
