AITKIN, MN — The Bemidji, Minnesota, office of Kraus-Anderson (KA) has completed a $70 million surgical addition and expansion at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin, Minnesota. Designed by DSGW Architects, the hospital project features a 72,000-square-foot surgery addition.
The hospital’s new surgery space consists of approximately 60,500 square feet of new surgical departments, including six operating rooms, two large procedure rooms, three endoscopy rooms, 25 prep and recovery rooms, post-anesthesia care unit, sterile processing, and staff support. The new space also includes approximately 12,000 square feet of clinical space for general surgery, neck, back, and spine, urology and ENT, and front entrance and lobby to support the new surgical program.
Construction began in August 2022.
Riverwood Healthcare Center is an integrated clinic and hospital health system. The 25-bed hospital with single occupancy patient rooms features a 24-hour emergency department with a Level III Trauma Center and airlift service, robotic-assisted and minimally invasive surgery, and private birthing center suites. Three primary care clinics in Aitkin, Garrison, and McGregor, Minnesota, offer a team-based model of care for all life stages. In addition, Riverwood offers a wide range of specialty care with more than 40 physicians, surgeons, and clinicians, plus comprehensive therapy services and retail pharmacies in Aitkin, Garrison, and McGregor.
