In 2012, the American Segmental Bridge Institute recognized DeHaven with a leadership award for his work designing, inspecting, and constructing segmental bridges. DeHaven has served on national code and specification committees for the Post-Tensioning Institute to improve bridge construction. Currently, he serves on both the grouting and constructability committees for ASBI. He received his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from The Citadel.
