The event was open to high school students ages 14 to 18, with a special emphasis on introducing girls to the trades and possibilities that exist within the construction industry. The event was centered around fostering a safety-first mentality and boosting self-confidence — skills that apply to everyday life. Students met some of McCarthy’s industry leaders while participating in a variety of safe, expert-guided, hands-on experiences from heavy equipment operation to drywall, concrete, plumbing, drone flying, and virtual reality.
The day opened up with welcomes by the McCarthy crew, breakfast, and a Flex & Stretch. Pods of eight to 10 high school girls rotated throughout these stations spending around 45 minutes at each. Seven trade partners provided experiential learning opportunities and giveaways.
