FENTON, MO — The 2025 Caterpillar Global Operator Challenge is a test of skill, control, and determination where local contractors have a chance to prove they have what it takes to stand above the rest. The initial local stage of the challenge recently took place at the Fabick Cat locations in Fenton, Missouri, and Wausau, Wisconsin.
“We’ve always looked forward to days like today when we can enjoy time with our customers,” said Kelli Fabick, Vice President of Fabick Rents. “This is just a great way to celebrate our partnership with them, and thank them for their business and for all they do for Fabick Cat and the communities that we work and live in.”
The local events consisted of a series of three tests:
- Precision Tracktor: Contestants maneuvered a Caterpillar D3 Dozer through an obstacle course
- Stay on Track: Operators showcased balance and material control skills in a Caterpillar 265 Track Loader
- Mini-Masters: Contestants played on a golf course using a Caterpillar 308 Mini Excavator to putt the ball into the hole
“We’ve had some really great participants in the event,” Fabick said. “We also have our technology group here with us, where customers have an opportunity to test out an autonomous piece of equipment.”

In addition to the competition, luncheon was served including everything from hamburgers and bratwurst to squeaky cheese curds. Members of Fabick Cat’s staff were also on hand to answer questions about the equipment in use or on display. They also let everyone know about current service and finance specials.
The Global Operator Challenge winner was Billy Liebhauser of Zillges Materials Inc. out of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and he will be moving on to the regional competition. Winners will be selected from each Regional Challenge to participate in the Caterpillar Global Operator Challenge, which will take place on March 3, 2026, at the Construction Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada.
