PORTAGE, IN — Superior Construction has been awarded the 2025 Gold Safety Program Award by Indiana Constructors, Inc. (ICI), which recognizes contractors with outstanding safety records who actively promote, protect, and advance their employees’ well-being.
ICI’s Safety Program Awards evaluate contractors based on their OSHA recordable rates, experience modification rates, and comprehensive safety program documentation. Winners are selected through a rigorous review process that includes job site visits and worker interviews.
Superior’s win in the 600,000-plus annual hours category reflects multiple safety initiatives the company implemented in the last several years. For example, a company-wide adoption of the HammerTech safety management platform contributed to zero hand and finger injuries in 2024, compared to 11 such incidents the previous year. The company also launched a Cut Level 4 minimum glove standard across Midwest operations and expanded its fleet-wide telematics system to monitor driver safety.
“Safety isn’t just a program at Superior; it’s core to how we operate every day,” said Tim Koster, Superior’s Midsouth Division Manager. “Every person on our team has the responsibility and the authority to stop work if something isn’t right. That commitment to looking out for each other is what defines us.”
Superior has received the Silver Safety Program Award for the past three consecutive years.
