HDR Expands Kansas City Office
According to Joe Drimmel, Senior Vice President and Area Manager for Missouri and Kansas, HDR has moved 166 staff members from three metro offices into one Kansas City location. The staff in that location also includes HDR Constructors — headquartered in Kansas City and a wholly owned subsidiary of HDR, Inc. — which provides integrated delivery construction solutions for engineering and architecture projects across the country.
“The decision to consolidate offices into one centralized location in the metro was motivated by a desire to gain efficiencies, combine our staff’s talent, build teamwork among the groups and expand our services,” Drimmel said. “It makes business sense to bring all of our services into one location to better serve the greater Kansas City metro and surrounding areas, especially with plans for hiring more staff.”
Drimmel said there are plans to hire 25 new staff members in the near future, ranging from senior to junior personnel. The office provides engineering services for: water, wastewater, storm sewer, highways, local roads, transit, freight rail, aviation, power transmission/distribution, development and the oil industry, along with construction services.
Out of its Kansas City office, HDR has delivered three of the area’s most significant infrastructure projects in recent years: the Kansas City Downtown Streetcar (City of KCMO/KC Streetcar Authority); the Johnson County Gateway (Kansas Department of Transportation) major multi-interchange reconfiguration; and the Edgerton Intermodal Facility (BNSF) at Logistics Park Kansas City.
These projects have garnered numerous local and national awards cited for design excellence, positive impacts to the local economy and quality of life for surrounding communities. HDR is also a key team member supporting the expansion of the Tomahawk Wastewater Treatment Plant (Johnson County, Kansas), the largest project ever undertaken by Johnson County.
