KANSAS CITY, MO — City officials, neighborhood leaders and others recently gathered to celebrate about $6 million of recent improvements made on N. Oak Trafficway, which extended from the North Kansas City city limits to N. Indianola Avenue.

“This project integrated many different multi-modal improvements — a new roadway, sidewalks, bicycle facilities and bus stops,” said David Miller, City Engineer for Public Works. “A great example of using GO Bond funds for Complete Streets and for the maximum benefit for our residents.”

The improvements — part of the GO KC projects that started in fall 2018 — included reconstructed pavement, new curb and gutter, new sidewalks, bike lanes and a shared use path, new bus stop pads, new water lines, new streetlights and slope improvements.

In April 2017, Kansas City voters overwhelmingly supported an $800-million capital improvements program to remake the city’s infrastructure over the next 20 years. There are multiple projects in some stage of construction.
