“The Policy, Data, & Analysis Division is known for its innovation, so Amanda was the perfect choice,” said Cooper Brown, Assistant Director for Operations. “From leading the development of ODOT’s first agency-wide investment strategy to coordinating multi-agency climate work, Amanda has developed through the years a reputation as a forward-thinking leader and a thoughtful manager and teammate."
The division is the strategy, policy, and planning arm of the agency and includes the Climate Office, Policy and Planning, Research, and Transportation Data. The division is leading efforts to implement the agency’s 2021-2023 Strategic Action Plan, which focuses on building a modern transportation system that is equitable and has sufficient and reliable funding for the future.
Pietz said getting to the “transportation system of the future” means considering climate, equity, and economic development alongside core values such as safety. She has served as the Director of ODOT’s Climate Office since it was established in March 2020 to support the state’s transition to a cleaner, more sustainable transportation system. As the Director, she has led the agency’s efforts to implement the Governor’s Executive Order 20-04 and the Oregon Transportation Commission’s Statewide Transportation Strategy for greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
Pietz, who joined ODOT in 2007, previously served as ODOT’s Program Implementation and Analysis Manager. She also worked for ODOT as Planning Manager and a Researcher. Pietz will replace long-time Division Administrator Jerri Bohard, who recently retired.
