Collins Named HNTB Office Leader in Seattle

BELLEVUE, WA — Kevin R. Collins, PE, has been named HNTB Corporation’s Seattle Office Leader, based in the firm’s Bellevue office. A Vice President, Collins brings more than two decades of transportation industry experience to the position. He succeeds Jim Thomson, PE, who recently was appointed President of HNTB’s new Northwest Division.
Collins leads a team of more than 230 transportation infrastructure and architecture professionals delivering aviation, toll, highway, transit, rail, planning, program/construction management, tunneling and other services to clients in this region. He is responsible for driving technical excellence for many of the region’s transportation agencies, offering expertise and guidance on their major programs. He also is growing the diversity and size of HNTB’s presence in the region, and training success-oriented leaders.
“Kevin is a results-oriented professional whose collaborative management style, deep understanding of our communities and commitment to quality are keys to his successful project delivery for our clients,” Thomson said.
Since joining HNTB in 2013, Collins served as Project Manager on Sound Transit’s East Link and Lynnwood Link Extensions. He led multidiscipline teams responsible for developing solutions and delivering results on more than $2 billion in high-profile and highly complex infrastructure projects. He also serves as the firm’s Client Service Leader for Sound Transit.
Collins is a registered Professional Engineer who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Northeastern University. He also received a Certificate in Project Management from the University of Washington.
Collins is active in the American Public Transportation Association and participated in the Leadership APTA class of 2008. He is a former American Road and Transportation Builders Association Young Executive Development Program fellow. In 2009, he was named to the Top 40 Under 40 transit professionals list by Mass Transit magazine.
