Sundt Foundation Awards $24,500 to Portland-Area Nonprofits

PORTLAND, OR — The Sundt Foundation recently awarded $24,500 in grants to five nonprofits across the Pacific Northwest.

“The Sundt Foundation is proud to support these outstanding organizations that provide vital services to individuals and families in need,” said Ken Kubacki, Vice President and Regional Manager for Sundt Construction and the Sundt Foundation board member for the Northwest region. “Through these grants, we hope to make a meaningful difference by addressing critical community needs, from youth development and food security to domestic violence support and inclusive outdoor experiences.”

Heart of Oregon Corps received $4,500 to support the YouthBuild SummerWorks program, which engages low-income Central Oregon youth who have previously dropped out of school. The program offers education, construction training, and childcare experience while connecting participants with mentors, job opportunities, and college exposure.

Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp received $5,000 to support its mission of providing accessible and inclusive outdoor experiences such as horseback riding, swimming, and adventure courses for individuals with disabilities. The grant also supports caregivers by offering respite care and training for volunteers and staff to foster a more inclusive community.

Raphael House of Portland received $5,000 to help provide uninterrupted emergency shelter and support services for survivors of domestic violence. With one-third of adults in Oregon experiencing intimate partner violence, this funding helps provide critical, life-saving resources.

Meals on Wheels helps seniors maintain independence and reduces food insecurity and isolation.

YWCA Clark County was awarded $5,000 for its SafeChoice Domestic Violence Program, which provides emergency shelter, housing assistance, advocacy, peer groups, and financial aid for 1,200 domestic violence survivors, 75 percent of whom live below the poverty line. The program also offers child advocacy services and a 24-hour hotline to support families in crisis.
