Hill has 15 years of experience in the organic waste sector where he has played key roles in technology supply, consulting services, large scale commercial facility operations, and academia. Most recently, he served as the Director of Technical Services for Engineered Compost Systems. Hill’s professional accomplishments include leading a 240,000 ton per year composting and anaerobic digestion facility to a 97 percent reduction in odor complaints, substantial compost quality improvement, and a $2-million turnaround in financial performance.
“Geoff has gained invaluable insights around the interplay between facility design and operation, which led him to consult on composting and anaerobic digestion facilities,” said Kevin De Lange, HDR Senior Vice President. “His depth of composting knowledge is a huge asset to clients as demand for organics management in the U.S rapidly grows. Organics are the largest recoverable component in most waste streams.”
Hill has a doctorate in physical geography and chemical/biological engineering, a master’s degree in physical geography and botany, and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. He is a regular speaker and workshop instructor at major industry conferences.
