CASA GRANDE, AZ — Haydon Building Corp. recently completed Casa Grande’s new Community Recreation Center. The center, built at a cost of $18.2 million, will offer sports programs, group fitness classes, kids programs and special events. The center will also serve as the new home for the Boys and Girls Club of the Casa Grande Valley.
The Community Recreation Center space totals 55,000 square feet. Amenities in the center include a 13,000-square-foot gym, a fitness loft, two group fitness rooms and rooms for meetings, special events, birthday parties and more.
Voters first approved funding for the center in a bond election in 2006, but the Great Recession put the project on hold until the economy recovered. Ground was broken for the center early last year. In the weeks leading up to the grand opening, the Community Recreation Center hosted two open houses for residents to get an early look inside the new facility.
“We’re delighted with the response from those who have had an opportunity to experience the Community Recreation Center and try out the equipment,” said Casa Grande Community Services Director Steve Hardesty. “This is a state-of-the-art facility that also provides a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for fun and fitness.”
