Barnhart Acquires Two New Branches in American Southwest

EL PASO, TX — Barnhart Crane and Rigging Co. has acquired the assets and operations of two Crane Service Inc. branches located in El Paso, Texas, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. The assets were purchased from ML Holdings Co., a Denver, Colorado-based company that owns Crane Service Inc. This acquisition includes only specific branch assets and does not represent a purchase of the Crane Service Inc. company itself.

The El Paso branch joins Barnhart’s Houston, Texas, branch to become the company’s second location in Texas. The Albuquerque location will be merged with Barnhart’s existing Albuquerque branch, which was acquired last August with the purchase of Mountain States Crane.

The new acquisitions include the two locations’ crane service, industrial machine moving, transportation, and rigging services, along with some 45 employees.

“Since its founding in 1960, Crane Service Inc. has built a solid reputation in the crane, rigging, and transportation industry by prioritizing safety and exceeding customers’ expectations," Barnhart Regional Director Chase Reynolds said. "They are recognized throughout the industry for having skilled and experienced operators and riggers, along with a well-maintained and comprehensive fleet of equipment. The addition of these two branches allows us to further expand our services throughout the Southwest and complements our existing branches.”

“When ML Holdings/Crane Service decided to transition our Albuquerque and El Paso crane branches, we knew there was only one call to make," ML Holdings President Dave Matz said. "Barnhart has a sterling reputation in the industry, and we had confidence our employees would thrive there. While we’re sad to see some of our team leave us, we’re excited to continue to our shift to larger and more mobile assets dedicated to the energy industry.”

“One door closes and another one opens with more opportunities and growth," El Paso Branch Manager Isaac Holguin said. "Here in El Paso, we are excited to start this next chapter in the crane industry with Barnhart Crane & Rigging Co. We will continue to keep cranes moving as we rise up in this new world with Barnhart.”

“Our team is absolutely thrilled to embark on this new chapter as part of the Barnhart family," Albuquerque Branch Manager Paul Raley said. "We’re buzzing with excitement for the opportunities ahead and the incredible synergy we anticipate creating together.”

ML Holdings is an owner and operator specializing in acquiring and improving both private and family-owned businesses in the construction and infrastructure products and services space. The holding company initially purchased Crane Service Inc. in 2007. Crane Service Inc. retains offices in Amarillo and Sweetwater, Texas, as well as in Denver.
