“Attending and exhibiting at SEAA’s convention is an investment in time and money, but members tell us that participation makes it possible to meet people and learn about industry trends and products that will shape your company for the future,” said Kathy Epperson, Events and Digital Content Manager at SEAA.
Epperson was named Events and Digital Content Manger in December 2023. She is responsible for overseeing the annual convention, and other meetings, including quarterly Meet & Greets and the Dave Schulz Memorial Golf Tournament. “Kathy will be a familiar face to many. She previously served on the SEAA staff from 2010 to 2019,” said R. Pete Gum, SEAA Executive Director. In the intervening years, she gained experience helping to manage a major trade show in the telecommunications industry and implementing social media strategies for a variety of clients.
“Kathy’s return to SEAA is like a homecoming," Gum said. "She already knows many of our members and is very familiar with the steel construction industry. She brings fresh ideas for improving networking experiences for members, and with just a few months to go until the 2024 convention, her familiarity with SEAA enabled her to hit the ground running."
The convention will feature education sessions for steel construction and steel fabrication business owners and managers. Slated to give the keynote address is Garrison Wynn, a Fortune 500 business leader and a professional standup comedian. His topic, "Winning the Talent War," fuses comic timing and research with actionable ideas for keeping and attracting the people you need to succeed.

There will be panel discussions with Project of the Year, Safety Excellence, and Craft Training Excellence Award Winners, giving members a chance to engage and learn from each other. Other sessions will tackle technology, detailing standards, accounting, public relations, and litigation containment.
In addition, a session from Michelle Walker, current board member and founding Chairman of the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention, will discuss why mental health and suicide prevention should be part of a best-in-class safety culture.
New this year for attendees staying over to Friday is the chance to participate in peer group discussions. The topics are "Speeding up the Process of Change Orders" and "Retaining and Engaging Field Employees." Space is limited to 25 participants per session, and registration is required.

“We encourage early sign-up as our hotel block is limited, and hotel space in Glendale is at a premium since the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is scheduled the week after our convention,” Gum said.
