Based out of Stantec’s Phoenix, Arizona, office, Koester has been a member of AzAA for 30 years and provided professional engineering services to the aviation industry for more than 40. He has filled many roles, from Airport Engineer to Project Principal and Client Manager.
“I have worked closely with Mark for the past 15 years, and I can’t say enough about his passion for airports and his contributions to the aviation industry,” said David Dargie, Stantec’s Sector Leader for airport infrastructure. “I want to personally congratulate Mark for this noteworthy award and commend him for his many contributions to the aviation industry over the course of his career.”
Koester's passion for airports and aviation-related facilities has taken him to projects all around the world, and he has been responsible for nearly $1.5 billion worth of improvements at over 30 airports in the United States, Canada, South Pacific, and the Caribbean. For many of those projects, he has provided engineering at all phases of development from planning to construction and for airport infrastructure both airside and landside, including runways, taxiways, aprons, airport terminals, hangars, and ARFF facilities, as well as roadways, storm water conveyance, utilities, and fueling systems.
