McMahon’s work on the $26-million project consists of demolishing two existing outdated residence halls and constructing two new, identical halls, a water tower, and related infrastructure. When complete, the halls will provide the institution with 400 beds dedicated to freshman and sophomore housing. The buildings will mimic the design of the historic campus.
Each hall will also include essential resident support functions like a front desk area, lounge spaces, kitchenettes, study rooms, and laundry facilities. The basement areas of the buildings will provide resident storage space and include unfinished square footage, which allows for flexibility to build out additional resident program space in the future.
The Boldt Company was selected as a general contractor in a competitive bid process in February 2021. Construction on the residence halls began in April 2021 and is expected to be complete by July 2022.
McMahon has provided professional engineering and architectural services to its customers for more than a century. The company's team of over 150 professionals serve its clients from the corporate headquarters in Neenah, Wisconsin, along with the Illinois and Indiana regional offices.
