The 8,000-square-foot facility features a synthetic turf multi-use field, separate natural turf practice fields, a new running track, a concessions building with restrooms, the Comet Spirit Store, a ticket booth, an entryway, team rooms, and storage rooms. Major improvements were also done to the original concrete bleacher system and tennis courts.
“From November of 2020 to May of 2021, we were in design mode, meeting weekly with Scherrer Construction team and Point of Beginning architectural firm. We broke ground in May 2021 on this enormous project to make improvements to the entire complex,” said Dr. Jill Sorbie, District Administrator for Delavan-Darien School District. “I want to thank the community for their support. It is essential that communities support education as students are our future.”
The new complex will support not only the school district but also numerous clubs and organizations within the community, including the Comets Delavan Youth Soccer Club and Delavan-Darien Youth football. The complex will also be available for community members to use the track.
“For over 90 years, Scherrer Construction has consistently strived to provide our clients with the best experience possible and meet the challenges of each project,” said Ben Templin, Principal and Executive Vice President of Scherrer Construction. “Working with schools like the Delavan-Darien School District is what we do best. We could not be happier with the new complex and are excited for the school and community to take full advantage of it.”
