The 8,000-square-foot athletic complex will feature a new synthetic turf multi-use football and soccer field, a new running track, expanded restrooms, concessions, team rooms, and storage facilities, as well as reconfigured and reconstructed tennis courts. Work is also being completed to preserve the concrete bleacher structure, a sentimental community landmark. Parts of the original structure will remain, and new bleachers are also being installed.
Scherrer Construction assisted the Delavan-Darien School District with its referendum campaign to educate the community on the need to update the athletic complex, resulting in a passed referendum in November 2020. The new athletic complex meets WIAA compliance and positions Delavan-Darien competitively amongst neighboring school districts.
Scherrer Construction has completed over $200 million of school construction projects within the last five years. The company's pre-referendum team will help confirm needs, identify costs, and develop an effective communications campaign to engage the community that will result in a successful referendum. Family-owned and operated since 1928, Scherrer Construction is a full-service general contractor and construction management firm. The company has offices in Burlington and Wausau, Wisconsin, and projects throughout Wisconsin and beyond.
