COLUMBUS, IN — Exhibit Columbus announces its second major event of the 2022–23 cycle Public by Design, the 2023 Design Presentations, on February 25 at the Commons in downtown Columbus.

“This is going to be a special day for Exhibit Columbus as we reveal all of the design concepts connected to this cycle, Public by Design,” said the Curatorial Partners. “Each participant visited Columbus for the 2022 Symposium, and now we get to see what they are proposing to create and how they arrived at their idea. Everyone attending will have the opportunity to provide feedback in various ways. This public engagement is really key to this year’s theme.”

The public is invited to preview design concepts of thirteen site-specific installations that seek to activate downtown Columbus for the fourth Exhibit Columbus Exhibition, opening this fall on August 26. The event will feature innovative presentations by the four J. Irwin and Xenia S. Miller Prize Recipients, seven University Design Research Fellows, High School Design Team, and Communication Designer. The program welcomes, encourages, and expects audience and community engagement with various opportunities to provide live feedback.

Exhibit Columbus is proud to announce that the 2023 Design Presentations are presented with support from SIHO Insurance Services, a long-time supporter of the program.

This event will start with a presentation by Chris Grimley of the newly-formed studio, Signals, on the Communication Design of this cycle, which will touch on the graphic identity, experiential graphics, and wayfinding system for the 2023 Exhibition, which will open on August 26.

“Kicking off the Design Presentations will be a great way to celebrate—from a visual perspective—the look and feel of the 2023 program and will start to identify installation locations and map a way to discover them along the exhibition route,” said Chris Grimley, founder of Signals. “It has been a delight to build off the history of Exhibit Columbus’ design work and bring a new expression to this cycle.”
